| This month we're offering an inside tip to ensure that your pump
repairs go smoother and the components last longer so you can
continue to get the best from your equipment. |
When replacing gear housing on a gear pump it is always wise to take a file to the
face of the gear housing to knock off any burns left from when housing was machined at the
factory. Even though this is a machined surface there will always be some burrs left over.
|
By removing all the burrs an tooling marks you can assure a better fit of
the housing to the surface of the front cover on the pump.
All that is needed isa couple of quick passes with a fine hand file using
light to medium pressure over both machined surfaces of the gear housing.
You should mooth the machined surface when replacing a fron to cover,
rear cover, or bearing carrier to ensure the best performance and
reduce the chance of the part failing in the future |
